The Government of the Republic of Moldova started the official process to rename the airport to "Eugen Doga International Airport - Chisinau," honoring one of the country's greatest composers, Eugen Doga.
The announcement was made by Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Vladimir Bolea, at the "DescOperă" event in Butuceni, as stated by Government spokesman Daniel Vodă.
Composer Eugen Doga passed away on June 3 at the age of 88. In response, a petition was launched to rename Chisinau International Airport in his honor.
